If you are living in Chellaston or nearby, you need crave a Birds' pork pie or custard tart no longer.
We are delighted to have played a part in completing the long-awaited deal to bring the famous Derby baker into premises next to the Co-op supermarket at the junction of High Street and Swarkestone Road.
The store is sure to be well-received by the local community who have long been hoping Birds would be coming to the area.
Mike Holling, Head of New Business Development at Birds Bakery, said: "We are very pleased that we have secured the deal to open in the unit adjacent to the Chellaston Co-op Store.
"We are aiming to be open before Easter and the shop will be in line with our latest shop-fits.
"Birds have received numerous requests from customers to open a store in Chellaston and we are pleased that soon we will become part of the local community.
"We are also very pleased that we worked with one of Derby's well-known property consultants, Salloway's, and thank them for their assistance with this project."
We know that the people of Chellaston were very excited when rumours first surfaced about moving Birds moving onto the site a year ago.
Therefore, we were really pleased to work with the building's owners, Clowes Developments, to get the deal over the line.
I am sure the store will be a great success and I look forward to nipping in for one of Birds' famous cakes.
