A former school site, with outline planning consent for residential development, is set to be sold through Derby-based property consultants Salloway. The former Merrill College (upper site) on Jubilee Road at Shelton Lock closed its doors for the last time on July 21 with students re-locating to a new purpose built facility at the lower site on Upper Moor Road in September. The existing school buildings on Jubilee Road will be demolished in advance of the sale.
Stephen Salloway, senior partner of Salloway Property Consultants, expects the sale of the 4.86 acre site to generate significant interest. "We are already receiving enquiries from residential developers who have learned about the site's impending availability," he explained. "It is an ideal lot size and will interest both national and locally-based house builders."
The site will be marketed on an "Informal Tender" basis with offers to be submitted by a closing date of October 1, 2006.
