Lettings agency Streets Ahead Estates have taken space on Babington Lane, Derby as confidence grows on this retail gateway into Derby.
Salloway have completed the letting of 72 Babington Lane to Streets Ahead Estates, who have opened a new lettings agency from the premises.
Taj Gill has launched the agency on the back of his belief that economic conditions are forcing more and more people to rent rather than buy accommodation.
"More and more people are renting property since the banking collapse, either because they cannot afford to buy houses or are saving up for deposits, so there is a gap in the market for us," said Mr Gill.
"I've been a landlord for 20 years and during that time I've dealt with all the issues, become fairly thick-skinned and even had to evict a few people, so I understand landlords' concerns and what they want from their lettings agency," he said.
The deal to give Mr Gill his first high street presence was put together by Salloway director Marc Ballard, acting on behalf of landlord Clowes.
Mr Ballard said: "It's encouraging that potential occupiers are taking a fresh look at Babington Lane and recognising that it represents good value for money.
"I certainly think that this has been helped by increased prominence and accessibility, given the works to the ring road. It has traditionally been a gateway into the retail centre and I think this is now being highlighted.
"In addition to 72 Babington Lane we recently brought an adjoining showroom property on to the market (78/82) and I would hope that the good footfall and range of occupiers will attract interest in this property too," he said.
