Construction is well underway on a new 17,000 sq.ft. manufacturing facility for one of Derby's oldest surviving businesses, J Seamer & Son Ltd.
Established in 1875, the family owned company has over 142 years' experience in providing bespoke joinery services for a variety of residential and commercial applications.
The relocation is part of Seamers' impressive expansion plans which have enabled the company to secure a loan from the Derby & Derbyshire Enterprise Growth Fund with the move expected to create several new positions within the workforce.
The expansion of Seamers is the brainchild of Managing Director, Richard Latham, who explained:
"When Mr John Seamer set up the business in the late 1800's, the primary objective was to produce joinery to the highest possible standard backed up by exceptional service. That remains our core business ethos to this day.
However, in order for our business to thrive and grow in these uncertain times, we needed a new manufacturing facility that was fit for purpose and would allow us to house new, state of the art machinery, ensuring our efficiency improves as our customer base grows."
The renaissance of this true Derby business will see them doubling their manufacturing space from 8,500 sq.ft. at their current premises on Derby's Sir Francis Ley Industrial Estate.
Victory Park is owned by commercial developers Revelan Developments Limited who are represented by joint marketing agents Salloway Property Consultants and FHP.
The deal to bring Seamers to Victory Park was put together by Hugo Beresford, Surveyor at Derby's Salloway Property Consultants, who commented:
"The new facility is a design and build project which means that our clients, Revelan, were able to work with Seamers to understand their business and tailor the design of the facility to the individual needs of the company.
Construction is taking place on a 1.2 acre plot which occupies a prominent position at Victory Park and I feel gives Seamers excellent prominence and a truly modern facility for them to grow their business from."
It is envisaged that the construction of Seamers' new facility will be completed during November 2017. Victory Park has further capacity to accommodate build to suit industrial units ranging from 15,000 sq.ft. up to 65,000 sq.ft., available on a leasehold or freehold basis.
